When the travel and tourism industry took a major hit due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sue Vivanco dove into entrepreneurship and started her passion project, Gigi Baby Boutique, with her sister-in-law Floria Thirasack.
While developing Gigi Baby Boutique, Sue and Floria created GIGI & Co., a luxury baby clothing line that would fit the needs of their own children. The clothing line, launching in fall 2021, emphasizes eco-conscious, Canadian-made designs and will be both functional and fashionable.
Most recently, the duo found a way to connect new and experienced moms. Sue and Floria are co-creators of the Facebook group, Mom*ish, a space to support moms and mommies-to-be when they need advice or an answer to a question.
Like many others, Sue felt the lack of human interaction while social distancing and isolating with her family throughout the lockdowns. The Durham Women’s Network provided Sue a space for continuous support from a group of women supporting women in business and personal growth.
As an XWN member, Sue has had the opportunity to access further learning experiences for self-development through downloadable programs like MaximizingU, created by Celina Caesar-Chavannes.
This year gave Sue the opportunity to enjoy quality time with her family instead of always being on the go. Throughout this year, the most powerful lesson she has learned is to slow down, enjoy the moment, and look at life through a new lens.
